Eric Evans (Managing Director) established E-Squared Communications in 2002. He has more than a 15 years of experience developing communication strategies for political and grassroots campaigns, non-profits organizations, and private sector companies. Eric has traveled the country working in diverse communities on two presidential campaigns. In 2003 Eric worked as a senior advisor and the Director of Scheduling and Advance in the Philadelphia Mayoral race. He spent more than five years as the Vice President of Communications for the Welfare to Work Partnership, where he was responsible for more than 2,500 media hits in high-profile publications throughout the country, including USA Today, The Washington Post, LA Times, The Today Show, Time Magazine, and Newsweek. He has provided media training and message development for senior executives and CEOs of fortune 500 companies, including Jonathan Tisch, Loews Hotel; Gerald Greenwald, United Airlines; and Jim Kelly, UPS.
Eric believes there is an underlying synergy that connects private industry, public policy and government agencies. He created E-Squared Communications to connect these entities together to help organizations grow. He works closely with a team of experienced writers, reporters, lobbyist, lawyers, and political strategists that he tailor’s to fit specific organization’s communications goals.
Eric lives in Washington DC and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo with a BA in English and Political Science.
Tiffany Westover-Kernan (Vice President) has more than 15 years experience developing marketing and communications strategies for communities, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies. As Executive Vice President for the Welfare to Work Partnership, Tiffany develop and organize national grassroots campaigns in 30 of the highest poverty cities to help companies hire and retain former welfare recipients. She managed and coordinated campaigns to develop innovative approaches to welfare to work through public/private partnerships among local, state, and federal governments, community-based organizations, and businesses. She worked as the liaison between the White House, Congress, and other federal departments for community and business efforts and public events as they relate to work force issue.
Prior to her work at the Welfare to Work Partnership, Tiffany worked as the communications director for the Washington DC-based Dutko Group, a strategic lobbying and communications company. She organized coalitions and grassroots efforts to help clients’ build support for policies and programs introduced on the local, state, and federal level.
Before the Dutko Group, Tiffany spent five years at Burson-Marsteller working on accounts for the US Olympic Committee and the United States Postal Service. Tiffany lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband and two children. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology; minor in Communications.
Gary Karton (Senior Consultant) joined E-Squared Communications after spending five years as senior writer/editor for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. In addition, he spent the 2005 baseball season covering the Washington Nationals for the Washington Post Express, a publication of the Washington Post. For six years, Gary was a reporter for The Washington Post, where he wrote news and feature articles on political figures and athletes. He was the co-author of No Free Lunch (Ballantine/One World, May 2002), the inspiring true story of Rodney Carroll, the President and CEO of The Welfare to Work Partnership. Prior to joining the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, he wrote hundred of speeches on welfare issues with business leaders, state governors, members of the White House and Democratic and Republican members of Congress. Gary has also written op-ed pieces that have appeared in several publications, including the Washington Post and USA Today.
Miriam Weintraub (Senior Consultant) joined E-Squared Communications after more than a dozen years as an Emmy award winning television producer and writer for CBS's 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes II. Miriam produced a number of nationally acclaimed programs, ranging from human interest stories to investigative pieces to celebrity profiles. She took a particular interest in medical stories, and produced moving profiles of people with autism, blindness and a variety of neurological conditions. In 1995, she won an Emmy award and an RFK Memorial award for her part in a three hour documentary on violence in America. Most recently, she produced a segment on basketball legend, Michael Jordan, which garnered 60 Minutes' highest ratings in years. Prior to coming to television, Miriam was a news writer for Voice of America radio, where she focused on Latin American issues and events. Miriam is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and two young children.
